80’S COSTUME CONTEST AND VOLVO ROAD RACE GAME TO HIGHLIGHT FINAL BUD LIGHT STREET BEAT APRIL 15 AS CHADZILLA & THE ASTEROIDS PROVIDE THE MUSICAL ACCOMPANIMENT TO SERIES GRAND PRIZE GIVEAWAYS IN VAIL VILLAGE
VAIL, Colorado-- The eighties were a wonderful era. In what other decade could a person be a young, rich, sad individual with no friends, and call yourself a Yuppie?
They were the days when chances were that you or your parents owned a TV that did not have a remote control. You could walk into a video rental shop and have a choice of either Betamax or VHS formats. And who could forget the first time you tried to break-dance and almost broke your neck.
All these memories and more will come rushing back Wednesday evening, April 15, as the final Bud Light Street Beat of the season brings Chadzilla & The Asteroids to Checkpoint Charlie in Vail Village for a nostalgic trip back through time.
And, to further underscore the point, the Vail Valley Foundation will be hosting an 80’s costume contest in conjunction with the free concert and the season-long Volvo Grand Prize giveaways. So break out your leg warmers, Members Only jackets, shoulder pads and Madonna lingerie outerwear and come prepared to strut your stuff on Gore Creek Drive. You just might win a pair of Atomic Snoop Daddies skis and bindings.
The evening’s festivities will conclude with the awarding of the Volvo Vail Grand Prize Guest Giveaway for an out of town guest and the 2009 Volvo C-30 for a lucky local. Concert goers will have one final opportunity to register at the show, although sign ups will end at 7 p.m. in order to prepare for the Grand Prize Game.
A total of eight contestants will be drawn from all the entries received at each free show during the 2009 Bud Light Street Beat series. These contestants will then be narrowed down to the final three, who will compete in a special Volvo Road Race Game to determine the winner of the C-30.
Everyone that has registered at any show this winter should come prepared with a valid drivers license as final contestants can only be confirmed with proper identification, even if their name is drawn.
The final Bud Light Street Beat free concert will get underway at 6 p.m. at Checkpoint Charlie in the heart of Vail Village. Concert-goers are encouraged to dress appropriately for the outdoor performance, with food and beverages available for purchase.
And, don’t forget to brush up your 80’s trivia. After all, you know you are a child of the 80’s if you never questioned why the A-Team was always imprisoned in places that had sufficient materials and tools to build an armored tank.
The Bud Light Street Beat free concert series is a project of the Vail Valley Foundation. For additional information on the Foundation, visit www.vvf.org.
