The Future of Energy In A Global Economy

The Vail Global Energy Forum is dedicated to the search for sustainable solutions to one of the most pressing issues of our era – how to produce enough clean, cost-efficient energy from reliable sources to power our global economy while we “bridge” the transition to the breakthrough renewable energy solutions of the future. VGEF will examine the combined challenges of energy supply, energy security and the impacts of energy use that will shape energy transitions now underway and in the decades to come.

Saturday, March 3, 2012

Dr. Sweeney will lead off with remarks that lay out the case for energy efficiencies that exist now.

He will also discuss barriers to implementing energy efficiency improvements and will discuss approaches to reducing these barriers, including “behavioral” changes that can result in increased energy savings and efficiencies.

3:15pm – 4:15pm Following Dr. Sweeney, we will hear from a panel including:

Dian Grueneich, former Commissioner, California Public Utilities Commission

Dr. Dan Arvizu, Director, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Golden, CO

Cathy Zoi, former U.S. Assistant Secretary for Energy
