EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING SUPPORT
Education is a critical component of the mission of the Vail Valley Foundation. Our goal is to provide programs and funding opportunities for Vail Valley students to improve their education experience, from preschool to higher education. All education donors receive acknowledgement in printed materials, including, but not limited to, the Year in Review.

  • Scholarships
    • Valley Foundation Scholarships provide funding for local students to attend an accredited four-year college or university of their choice.  Donors may establish a named Vail Valley Foundation Scholarship with a four-year commitment of $20,000 ($5,000/year) plus a $2,000 administration fee gift.  Named scholarships may include donor-tailored criteria for award.  A named scholarship endowment may be established with a gift of $100,000.
    • Continuing Education Scholarships give local individuals already in the workforce an opportunity for career enhancement and advancement.  The same naming opportunities exist for continuing education scholarships as described above for Vail Valley Foundation Scholarships.
  • Success at Six - This program ensures the future success of a young child’s educational experience by helping to “prime the pump.” Through qualified preschool and after-school programs, kindergarten and pre-kindergarten young students are given additional tools to prepare them for their school years.  The two primary sub-programs of Success at Six are:
    • Kindergarten Scholarships – provide full-time kindergarten to every such aged child of the Vail Valley (a $2,200 contribution is required to sponsor a child).
    • Magic Bus Program – delivers pre-kindergarten education to various underprivileged areas of the Vail Valley.  Donations of any and all amounts designated to the Magic Bus Program will make a lasting impact on our community.
  • Vilar STARS (Supporting The Arts Reaching Students) Program
Each year the Vilar Performing Arts Center (VPAC) offered numerous educational opportunities at the theatre for local children through the STARS Program.  Programs for children of various schools within Eagle County are offered free of charge in effort to expose the kids to the wonderful world of the performing arts.  The Vail Valley Foundation is appreciative of al gifts at any level that are designated to this special initiative.
  • Donor Advised Funds for Education
With a minimum $25,000, donors may establish a named Donor Advised Fund (DAF) to function similarly to the Foundation’s Gold Star Giving Program.  In the case of a DAF, however, it is the donor who makes recommendations for distributions to assist various educational charities of the Vail Valley (not the VVF education grant committee).  For more information on establishing a DAF with the Vail Valley Foundation, Please contact the VVF Development Office at (970) 949-1999.
  • Gold Star Giving
The Vail Valley Foundation provides funding for qualified educational programs and organizations throughout Eagle County. In 2006, $283,000 was distributed to other non-profit organizations that work to provide excellence in education at many age levels.
