Success at Six is an initiative designed to address the critical early learning needs of our community’s children, ages 0-6.
Leading research shows that high-quality early childhood education – or “priming the pump” – promotes school readiness and helps build a foundation for later academic success, which in turn minimizes impacts on social services.
Through Success at Six, the Vail Valley Foundation has provided funding for every at-risk student who wishes to attend an all-day, every day kindergarten school program. To date this program has benefited close to 550 students with need-based scholarships on a sliding scale; no child who wishes to attend is turned away.
The next group of children to benefit from this initiative are those ages 3-5, when the new and improved Magic Bus begins its tour of all child care centers in the Vail Valley. This mobile classroom will give children, especially those not already involved in a preschool program, an opportunity to start their learning experience and in turn enter kindergarten with valuable skills for educational success.
Through programs such as these, and our ongoing commitment to educational endeavors, the Vail Valley Foundation works to enrich and sustain our community, its future and that of its children.
