Gold Star Giving Program


Initiating, promoting and supporting community education initiatives is part of the Vail Valley Foundation’s mission and is the purpose of the Gold Star Giving program. We accomplish this mission by helping to financially support qualified educational programs through grants.

To qualify for a grant from the Gold Star Giving program, an organization must provide exemplary educational services for youth ages 0-18 and must also meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Colorado non-profit registered and serving children in Eagle County.
    No out-of-area applications will be considered.
  • Be established for three years with audited financials.
  • Spend no more than 20% of funding on overhead.
  • Be non-denominational and have a no-discrimination policy.
  • Serve more than 20 children.
  • Provide documented progress of programs
  • Reflect the demographics of Eagle County.
  • Offer scholarship assistance.

Organizations that might qualify for Gold Star Giving support meet all the criteria listed above and fall into five general categories:

Organizations wishing to apply for Gold Star Giving Grants must complete a proposal and submit it to the Vail Valley Foundation. Applications are reviewed by the Vail Valley Foundation Education Committee bi-annually. Deadline for receiving proposals is November 1. Determinations are made at year end.
