SUPPORT VAIL VALLEY FOUNDATION EDUCATION:

We take pride in the education initiatives of the Vail Valley Foundation, where we provide leadership and funding to accomplish the critical task of molding our youth to become the inheritors of the world community. At every level from preschool to adulthood, we offer the opportunity for intellectual growth, and we strive to make a difference in places where public funding does not reach.

VVF education initiatives include Success at Six (Kindergarten scholarships), the Magic BusCelebrate the BeatFirst NotesSowing Seeds, the Education Elevation community grant program and multiple scholarships.

Educate today. Change tomorrow. When we invest in education, we invest in the future.

THE FACTS:

Colorado ranks 42nd in the nation in public school revenue per student. Colorado spends $9, 926, compared to the national average of $10,506.

Eagle County spends $7,400 per student compared to communities with similar income profiles that spend $15,000- $17,000 per student.

There is a significant achievement gap on Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP) tests between Hispanic and Caucasian students, with a gap of up to 47 points. As demographics change, this gap will increase.

For every pre-kindergarten dollar this is spent on our children, we save up to $17 over time in areas such as special education, health care and social services.

The graduation rate in Eagle County is 83% for Caucasians and under 70% for Hispanic students.

THE VAIL VALLEY FOUNDATION'S EDUCATIONAL IMPACT:

23,200 - Total children served by VVF programming.

181,680 - Total VVF student contact hours.

$3.51 - Average cost of contact hours per child.

$1,176,000 - Direct financial impact to the community from VVF programs and grants.

Recognizing these educational issues in our community, the Vail Valley Foundation is determined to be part of the solution. While we continue to provide leadership in athletic and cultural endeavors, The Foundation’s efforts to raise funds to support innovative educational programs are at the forefront of our initiatives. By supporting qualified non-profits that provide educational programs, we embrace community needs and help make the Vail Valley thrive for all members of our community – especially our children.

The Vail Valley Foundation’s education efforts could not exist without generous gifts from many individuals. Please call or email Jean McSpadden, Director of Education at 970.777.2015 or jmcspadden@vvf.org to learn more about supporting the Vail Valley Foundation's education initiatives, or make a donation now below:
