LYLE LOVETT and His Large Band
Since his self-titled debut in 1986, singer-songwriter Lyle Lovett has evolved into one of music’s most vibrant and diverse Americana singers, fusing elements of country, swing, jazz, folk, gospel and blues in a convention-defying style. The Texas-based singer, composer and actor has proven himself unstoppable- Lovett has appeared in 13 feature films and released 14 albums, the latest of which was 2012’s “Release Me.”
The Klein, Texas native began his career playing local festivals and clubs while attending Texas A&M in the late '70s. He made his mark on the country charts with his first album when five of his songs reached the country Top 40. His sophomore album "Pontiac" drew pop and rock fans in addition to his country following, and Lovett was on his way to defying conventions with his innovative sound.
“If I Had a Boat,” “Nobody Knows Me,” “Here I Am,” and “That’s Right (You’re Not From Texas)” are only a handful of Lovett's 21 singles. Lovett has won four Grammy Awards®, and he continues to tour and make innovative, noteworthy music.
