In education we operate Youth Power. In athletics we host the GoPro Mountain Games and Stifel Birds of Prey. In arts we operate the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater and Vilar Performing Arts Center, and host the Vail Dance Festival. We could not do what we do without our incredible staff and board!

Susan Campbell grew up in a family that loved ballet; she and her sister danced, her mother designed costumes, and her father played character roles while becoming a tenured singer with the San Francisco Opera. She choreographed her first ballet at 9 and continued dancing and choreographing for many years.
Susan received her BA in Business/Accounting from San Francisco State University and worked as a CPA for Deloitte in Aberdeen, London, San Francisco and Boston. She also audited hotels for Sheraton and worked for the City of Carrolton in Texas before retiring to raise her three children.
She has continued to be an avid dance supporter as the family relocated from Dallas, to London, San Francisco, and New York. Currently, she sits on the Board and Executive Committee of The New York City Ballet and is involved with various dance organizations across the US. She has been a member of the Vail Valley Foundation Board of Directors since 2014 and has Chaired the Vail Dance Festival since 2018.
Her family’s main center of gravity has long been Beaver Creek where they discovered their love of skiing and mountain biking. She first attended the Vail Dance Festival in 2007 and was so impressed she immediately got involved. It was simply the best collection of dance she’s ever seen anywhere in the world with a focus on original choreography that was truly exciting. With a 56-bed hospital, level III trauma center, urgent care clinics, cancer center, cardiovascular services, surgery, childbirth, physical therapy, internal medicine, endocrinology and more, Vail Health is the world’s most modern mountain health care system.
Previously, Mr. Cook served as the president and chief executive officer of University of Colorado Hospital (UCH), the only academic medical center in Colorado. Mr. Cook joined University of Colorado Hospital in September 2015 and was responsible for advancing patient care, innovation and research at UCH and was responsible for the Metro-Denver region.
Prior to UCH, Mr. Cook worked at UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center), an academic medical center with 21 hospitals, 3,400 employed physicians and more than 60,000 employees. He served as senior vice president of UPMC’s Health Services Division, chief operating officer of Physician Services, and president of UPMC Mercy. While at UPMC, Mr. Cook held several leadership roles, including vice president of operations at Magee Women’s Hospital of UPMC, as well as vice president of transplant and ambulatory care at UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside.
The early part of Mr. Cook’s career was spent with Johns Hopkins Health System, where he held several positions, including director of operations at Johns Hopkins International Medical Center in Singapore.
Mr. Cook received a Master’s degree in Health Administration from Washington University School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M University. He also completed a two-year fellowship in Health Care Administration at Johns Hopkins Health System. He is a skilled leader at building partnerships, including with physicians and staff at all levels. He also has a broad base of operational health care experience in outpatient and inpatient services.

Steve Coyer and his wife, Amy, moved to the Vail Valley full-time in 1999 and have never regretted it for one second. Soon after arrival he became involved in the launching of the First Tee chapter of Eagle County in 2007, managed by YouthPower365 (then known as The Youth Foundation). Steve became chair of the organization in 2011 and was instrumental in executing its merger with the Vail Valley Foundation in 2011.
Steve has been actively involved as a Vail Valley Foundation Board Member and Education Committee Member and is now Chair of that committee. He holds a B.A. with distinction and honor in economics from the University of Michigan and has an M.A. from the Harvard Business School.
The Coyers have a wide variety of philanthropical interests. They contribute to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Walking Mountain Science Center, and Steve sits on the Board of Directors of the Eagle River Water and Sanitation District. READ MOREIn 1995, Chief Daly began his career in law enforcement, graduating from the Colorado Law Enforcement Training Academy at the Colorado Mountain College, Spring Valley, near Glenwood Springs, Colorado. In 1996 he started with the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office as a Sheriff’s Deputy. He worked for a combined total of 12 years for the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office. During his service, he was a Field Training Officer, defensive tactics instructor, fitness instructor and SWAT Assistant team leader. He also promoted to patrol sergeant.
In 2008 Daly was selected for the position of Lieutenant at the Avon Police Department, second in command to then Chief Brian Kozak. He served under Chief Kozak for two years and then as Deputy Chief under Chief Robert Ticer for six years. In 2016, Daly was appointed Chief of Police at Avon Police Department.
Chief Daly has served on the Eagle County Special Operations Unit for 21 years. He was the Tactical Commander for eight years and currently serves as a tactical trainer and advisor to the team. Chief Daly also serves as a board member on the Colorado Peace Officer and Training Standards Board where he is serving his second three-year term.
Chief Daly is the board chairperson of Speak Up Reach Out, the suicide prevention nonprofit originally organized at the Avon Police Department 15 years ago.
Chief Daly earned a Bachelor of Financial Services degree from the University of College Dublin and the Institute of Bankers in Ireland in 1998. Johannes Faessler is originally from Bavaria, where he was born and raised in the hospitality industry. He came to the USA to attend the University of Denver and in the mid-1980s, soon after completing university, took over the family business: Sonnenalp Properties in Vail.
At the time, the Sonnenalp had 37 rooms and one restaurant, but Johannes soon acquired the Kiandra and Talisman lodges and incorporated those properties into the Sonnenalp. Several years later, Johannes and his wife Rosana took the bold step to completely remodel existing facilities and spent two years rebuilding a new hotel into what we all know and enjoy today.
Sonnenalp Properties, Inc., now consists of the Sonnenalp Resort and Spa of Vail, the Swiss Hotel and Spa, Sonnenalp Property Management, The Bully Ranch, The Swiss Chalet and the Sonnenalp Club in Singletree (Edwards), all of which are consistently ranked as some of the top properties and restaurants in the world.
Johannes is also an accomplished skier, an Ironman triathlete, and has been a longtime supporter, volunteer and sponsor of not only the Vail Valley Foundation but a myriad of other local organizations in Eagle County.

Before joining TPL in 2024, Carrie served as president and CEO of Colorado Mountain College, where she led the institution to record graduation rates, closed equity gaps, expanded affordable housing for students, and developed academic programs aligned with the outdoor industry. She was named the first President Emerita in the history of the college.
Her extensive board service includes the American Council on Education, Vail Valley Foundation, Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission, Great Outdoors Colorado, and American Rivers.
Carrie earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona, her master’s and Ph.D. from UCLA, and completed the Advanced Management Program at the Wharton School of Business.
An avid outdoorswoman, Carrie has summited Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Rainier, Mount Whitney, and Colorado’s 58 “fourteeners.” She has also climbed to Mount Everest basecamp and worked many summers on the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park. David graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management in 1994. Early in his career, David worked in Miami, Washington DC and Atlanta, where he honed his construction management skills before moving to the Vail Valley where his wife Alex grew up. He is currently the President of Shaeffer Hyde Construction, which he joined in 2007.
Through his company, David is participating in the CareerWise Colorado Apprenticeship Program in collaboration with the Eagle County School District, Vail Valley Partnership, Colorado Mountain College and YouthPower365. The program offers a pathway for high school students to obtain hands-on training for good paying jobs in the community. David is also involved with the Walking Mountains Science Center’s Actively Green Program, and oversaw his company’s Actively Green Certification in 2018. The program is responsible for significant reductions in water consumption, energy use, CO2 emissions and overall waste diverted to the landfill by local businesses.

Mike Imhof began his career at the Vail Valley Foundation in 2007 serving as the organization’s Vice President, Operations and Sales, and then as its Senior Vice President, Operations, Sales and Development.
Mike became the organization’s fifth President and CEO in fall 2015. Prior to the Vail Valley Foundation, Mike worked for Vail Resorts, Inc., as Director, Strategic Alliance overseeing ticket sales, season pass sales, licensing, trademarks and strategic partnerships. Before moving to the valley in 1998 and joining Vail Resorts, Mike was National Sales Director of Tactilitics, Inc., a medical device company based in Boulder, Colorado.
Mike is originally from Tacoma, Washington and graduated from Regis University in Denver with a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Communications. He serves on the Board of Directors for Ski and Snowboard Club Vail, the Vail Valley Foundation and the Vail Valley Partnership, and he and his wife Ellen, in addition to their support of Vail Valley Foundation activities, are also active with the Eagle Valley Family Assistance Fund, St. Clare of Assisi School, St. Patrick’s Church, Vail Christian High School and the Vail Veterans Program. Chris was raised in the Vail Valley, and held numerous positions with Vail Resorts from1985 to 2020. He began as a seasonal employee in guest services at Beaver Creek, and later was Director of Advertising and Direct Marketing, Director of Reservations, Vice President of Marketing for Vail and Beaver Creek, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales and Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Vail Mountain.
In 2016 Chris became Executive Vice President, Mountain Division, for Vail Resorts where he oversaw Vail Resorts’ mountain resort businesses in Colorado, including Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone; plus Afton Alps, Minnesota; Mount Brighton, Michigan; Wilmot Mountain, Wisconsin and Perisher, Australia, until retiring in 2020.

Cheryl is the Founder of Vail Veterans Program which began in 2004 as an adaptive winter ski program for a small group of wounded warriors and has grown to host a wide range of therapeutic Colorado-based programs serving more than 3,000 injured military service members and their families.
Cheryl also founded and serves as the Executive Director of Sharing Warmth Around the Globe, a program of the National Ski Areas Association that ships gently used resort uniforms to people in need. To date, Sharing Warmth has provided over 300,000 winter coats to a world-wide population in need.
Cheryl served as a founding member of the Shaw Outreach Team which was responsible for raising the funds to plan, build and furnish Jack’s Place, an on-site residential complex located at the Shaw Regional Cancer Center.
Cheryl has been recognized with numerous awards through the years which include the Ernie Bender Volunteer of the Year from the Vail Valley Foundation, two Civilian Service Awards from the Secretary of Defense and Chief of Staff of the Army, the Women’s Outstanding Work Award from Women’s Foundation of Colorado, the Chairman’s Award from the Vail Valley Partnership and in 2019 the Women in Industry award from the US Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame.

After assuming she would follow her sister and go to the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Molly started working in restaurants and fell in love. She changed her plans and attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park New York.
After school, Molly worked in New York City, Atlanta and then Chicago, where she worked for almost 10 years, moving from line cook to pastry chef at Spring Restaurant under Shawn McClain, and then becoming Chef d Cuisine of its sister restaurant, Green Zebra.
Molly left Chicago to move to the Vail Valley over 15 years ago, to raise her daughter in a small caring community that had a lot to offer. She started the sourdough bread program at Zino for Zino, Sweet Basil and Mountain Standard. This allowed her to be in the kitchen in the wee hours of the morning and then home with her daughter most of the day and evening. Having this schedule gave Molly the opportunity to immerse herself in the Vail Valley and see what a unique place it is and how important community, health, outdoors and culture are to Vail.
In 2017, Molly had the amazing experience of opening Hovey & Harrison with Gretchen Hovey. Molly and Gretchen put their love of farms, cooking and community all under one roof. Although Gretchen is no longer a part of Hovey & Harrison, Molly is beyond grateful that they created the space together. Molly now runs Hovey & Harrison with her chef and partner Brian Brouillard. Although Molly spends the majority of her days at Hovey & Harrison doing what she loves, she takes any chance she can to travel with her daughter to eat and learn about other cultures. If Molly can’t get on a plane to escape, she will be out hiking with her dog, Jack.

Ellen Moritz grew up in Minnesota and attended the University of Minnesota, obtaining degrees in Business Economics, Economics and German. She moved to Vail from Minnesota in January 1990 to begin working for FirstBank. Ellen started in the management training program with FirstBank and was most recently the President of FirstBank’s Eagle County market.
During her years in the Vail Valley, Ellen has also been involved in many nonprofit groups, including chairing the Audit committee of the Vail Valley Foundation Board of Directors. As a volunteer attorney in the family law unit of legal services for the past 20 plus years, Jill has worked with hundreds of women and children to provide safety, stability and freedom from abusive relationships. In this capacity, Jill serves as a legal advisor to the Domestic Abuse Services program of the YWCA in Greenwich where she sits on the Leadership Council.
For the past 16 years, Jill has accepted appointments to serve as Guardian Ad Litem and Attorney for Minor Children in contested custody matters before the Stamford Superior Court and Regional Family Trial Docket. In 2011, Jill received the Fairfield County Bar Association’s Liberty Bell Award and the Connecticut Law Tribune’s pro bono award. In addition to her Harvard Law education, Jill holds BA from the University of Pennsylvania in International Relations. Jill is married to Dr. Kevin D. Plancher, an orthopedic surgeon, who in 1993-1994 was an Orthopedic Fellow at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic. It was during that year that Jill and Kevin fell in love with the Vail Valley and added to their family by delivering their second child Jamie at the Vail Valley Medical Center.
Jill and Kevin have owned a home in Beaver Creek since 1994 and have enjoyed summer and winter family vacations in the Vail Valley. Ann graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics and Statistics. She soon joined IBM as a systems engineer, then continued into a real estate career that culminated with her elevation to Partner in a large Portland, Oregon commercial real estate management and development company. She subsequently joined Kaiser Aerospace & Electronics Corporation, where she managed their diverse real estate portfolio.

After starting a family, she transitioned to being a full-time mother and volunteer. Tina’s husband David has been a ski and snowboard instructor for 35 years, and they have two daughters who were born and raised in Vail.
Tina’s love of the valley and our community has led her to support many local non-profit organizations. Through their gifting to the Vail Valley Foundation, Tina and David established the Carol F. Storr Endowment for Classical Ballet, in honor of Tina’s mother’s love of the art form, ensuring classical ballet always features at the Vail Dance Festival. Tina’s support also includes the Wilson Family Performing Arts Scholarship, aiding local college-bound students. Tina and David also helped found the Shaw at Home program at Vail Health, which allows patients to receive palliative care in their homes. If there is a person who epitomizes the phrase, “Realizing the American Dream,” it is family patriarch, Bjorn Erik Borgen. As a child, Borgen’s family lost their home and all of their possessions due to a 5-year occupation by the Nazis during WWII. As a 12-year-old, Bjorn emigrated from Norway to the small town of Strum, Wisconsin, where he learned English and flourished under the individualized attention and opportunities available to him through the local public schools. He received a scholarship to attend the University of Wisconsin, later completed his MBA at Harvard Business School and went on to a very successful career in entrepreneurship and investment.
Bjorn and his wife, Kathy, have been married since 1964 and have three children, Kaia, Randi and Jon-Erik; and 10 grandchildren. In 1984 he joined the Vail Valley Foundation, held various leadership positions, played a significant role in the 1989 Alpine World Ski Championships, and eventually served as the Vail Valley Foundation’s president from 1991 to 1999.
Following the 1999 Vail/Beaver Creek Alpine World Ski Championships, John returned to his Vail Resorts roots as Beaver Creek’s Chief Operating Officer, and then on to the position of Co-President of Vail Resorts’ Mountain Division. He capped off his career with Vail Resorts as President of global mountain development and retired from Vail Resorts in 2015.
John was instrumental in bringing the world to Vail and Beaver Creek through all three of the Valley’s Alpine World Ski Championships (1989, 1999 and 2015), and has always remained close to the Vail Valley Foundation where he is a Life Trustee member. John is a Colorado Ski Hall Of Fame Inductee, serves on the Board of Trustees for the US Ski Team and remains very involved with several local, Eagle County organizations. John and his wife Vicky live in Eagle, Colorado, and have two children, Mac and Keegan; and two grandchildren.

George N. Gillett Jr., is founder and chairman of Booth Creek Management Corporation (BCMC), which provides management services to the Gillett Family’s diverse business interests, including fresh and organic foods, financial services, recreation, leisure, media, entertainment, professional sports teams and automotive dealerships. Over time, he has acquired more than 200 businesses in myriad business sectors.
George started his career in marketing and management consulting, initially with McKinsey & Company. A sports enthusiast since childhood, by the late 1960s George was business manager and minority partner of the Miami Dolphins. He then became partner, owner and CEO of the Harlem Globetrotters and later established Globetrotter Communications, a national radio group. In the 1970s, George entered the meat packing business with Packerland Packing Co., in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and formed Gillett Broadcasting, which became a significant owner of network-affiliated television stations in major U.S. markets. Later, George acquired interests in other food businesses, including Corporate Brands Food America, Iowa Beef Processors and Swift & Company; Coleman Natural Foods, one of the world’s leading producers of natural and organic proteins; and Wheat Montana, a forerunner in the realm of top quality, farm fresh specialty grains.
In 1985, George acquired Vail Associates, as owner and operator of the ski resorts in Vail and Beaver Creek, Colorado. George launched a massive installation of high-speed detachable chairlifts which transformed the industry and moved Vail and Beaver Creek Resort to the top of SKI and Skiing and SNOW Country Magazines as premier resorts in North America for most of the mid-eighties and into the ‘90s. While there, George made customer-driven research and guest service his continuing business platform for years to come. Gillett led the company in hosting major international alpine ski racing events, winning the bid for the 1989 World Alpine Ski Championships and later repeating with the epic 1999 and 2015 events making it the only North American resort holding the prestigious and globally watched event three times.
Gillett has owned the Montreal Canadiens National Hockey League team, and the Bell Center arena in Montreal as well as being a 50 percent owner of the Liverpool English Premier League Football Club. In August 2007, he acquired the NASCAR team formerly known as Evernham Motorsports, to form Gillett Evernham Motorsports. In January 2009, Gillett Evernham Motorsports and Petty Holdings merged to form Richard Petty Motorsports, which Gillett was a partner in until November 2010.
George serves as chairman and director of most of the companies included in the Gillett family interests and is a former member of the Board of Governors and the Executive Committee of the NHL. George’s community service involvement included membership on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Vail Valley Foundation. He is a past Chairman of the Board of the Denver Grand Prix Foundation, a member of the Leadership Council of the United States Olympic Committee, was a director of the U.S Ski and Snowboard Association for 17 years and is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Steadman Philippon Research Institute-a World renown orthopaedic research institute based in Vail, Colorado. He has been inducted into the Colorado Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame and in 2008 Sports Media Canada named George Sports Executive of the Year.

READ MORESheika Gramshammer is the descendent of an old Austrian innkeeping family. She and her husband, Pepi, came to Vail as an internationally known ski racer. They established and have since operated the Hotel-Gasthof Gramshammer in Vail Village since 1964.
Pepi Gramshammer was one of the fastest men on the professional ski racing circuit in the early 1960s, and was an instructor at Sun Valley, Idaho. He was lured to Vail in 1962 by Dick Hauserman, Bob Parker and Morrie Shepard. During a quick tour of the ski area, he had to hike from the bottom to the top of a bowl, which took some time, even for a young, ultra-fit ski racer. That’s when the Forever run got its name, and Parker hung Pepi with the nickname “Forever.”
Pepi and Sheika have been instrumental in the creation of the town of Vail and all of its institutions, and they remain active members of the community to this day. Pepi served on the Vail Valley Foundation Board of Directors from 1985-2015, while Sheika has served since 2004 and continues to serve.

In high school, he attended Forest Hills, where he likes to say he, “…majored in ‘sports.’” A certified ski instructor since 1964, Haber first taught in Stowe, Vt., and then Vail, and quickly became known as one of Vail’s early pioneers. After several years in Vail he founded the well-known BOLLE Eyewear, which was one of only a very few ski product companies to ever go public. Along with Bill Nolan, Haber is also the co-founder of HaberVision, a goggles and safety glasses company. Heavily influenced by President and Mrs. Ford, Haber joined the Vail Valley Foundation board of directors in 1989 and remains a life trustee today.

William J. Hybl is Executive Chairman of El Pomar Foundation, after serving 30 years as Chairman and CEO. In 2008, Hybl was confirmed by the United States Senate as Chairman of the U.S. Commission on Public Diplomacy, a position he was appointed to by President George W. Bush. He was reappointed by President Barack Obama on June 2, 2011, and currently serves as Vice Chairman. He also serves as Chairman of the U.S. Olympic Endowment. Hybl is President Emeritus of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC). He served twice as President when he led the United States Olympic Team Delegations at the 1992 Olympic Winter Games in Albertville, France, and the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain. In 1998, he again led the U.S. Team at the Olympic Winter Games in Nagano, Japan, and in 2000, at the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. He was a member of the International Olympic Committee from 2000-2002. Hybl has also been engaged in a variety of public service activities. He is Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army (Senior).
In 2001, President George W. Bush appointed Hybl as U.S. Representative to the 56th General Assembly of the United Nations. In addition, Hybl was Chairman of the Board of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) from 2003-2009 and currently serves as Chairman Emeritus. He was named Citizen of the West by the National Western Stock Show of Denver in 2003.
Hybl is a Graduate of Colorado College and earned his Juris Doctor at the University of Colorado School of Law. He was elected to the Colorado House of Representatives in 1972 and was Special Counsel to President Ronald Regan in 1981. She is currently the president of the Kelton Group, and sits on the Board of Directors for Colorado Mountain College and Bright by Three; is on the El Pomar Foundation Trustee Council; and was on the founding boards of the Shaw Regional Cancer Center, the Vail Symposium and the Vail Institute.
Kelton came to Vail via New York City, by way of Jackson Hole, in 1964. Adventurous enough to skydive competitively, play hockey (less competitively), and start several successful businesses in Vail and beyond, Elaine has supported all of the Vail Valley Foundation’s endeavors in arts, athletics, and education. From May 2008 through May 2017, Mr. May served as a director of Tiffany & Co. From April 1993 through June 2007, Mr. May served as President, Chief Operating Officer and a director of Triarc Companies, Inc., which during that period of time owned Arby’s Restaurant Group, Inc. and the Snapple Beverage Group, as well as other consumer and industrial businesses.
Mr. May was President and Chief Operating Officer and a director of Triangle Industries, Inc. from 1983 until December 1988, the largest packaging company in the world and a Fortune 100 industrial company, when that company was acquired by Pechiney, S.A., a leading international metals and packaging company.
Mr. May is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Mount Sinai Health System in New York, where he led the turnaround of this major academic health center from serious financial difficulties to what is today one of the most profitable and fastest growing academic medical centers in the United States. In addition, Mr. May is a Trustee of The University of Chicago and a Life Member of the Advisory Council of The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Doug Rippeto is the founder and President of The Compass Group, a real estate investment company in Dallas, Texas. For the past four decades and more, Compass has been primarily involved in the acquisition, structuring, sale and management of garden apartment properties. During that time, Compass organized more than 50 apartment partnerships, mostly in Texas and Oklahoma.
Early in 2000, Doug became the lead investor with Juniper Investment Group, a Houston company founded by his oldest son, Jay, to purchase and manage apartment projects. Juniper currently has about 10,000 units in five states and Doug’s youngest son, Jeremy, is also a partner in Juniper.
